Got the Browning BPS 20 gauge with the rifled barrel and scoped. It exceeded my expectations. Used two hull brands Winchester and Remington and they were from factory slug loads. The slugs I used are the ThugSlut from BPI. I'm very pleased with them.

Hulls: Winchester and Remington used in their slug loads.
Primer: Winchester 209
Powder: Unique 16.5 grains
Velocity Average: 1101 fps for five shots
ES: 55
SD: 21
Temperature: 44 degrees
Altitude: 2200 feet
Humidity: 43 %
Wind: 5 mph head on
Groups size: .750 inch
Slug Weight: 7/8th oz
I'm very happy about the load and group size. I had the different brands of hulls mixed and the velocities were different betwee them enough that I feel if I had shot the one brand the ES and SD would have been lower, but hey this is a shotgun not a match rifle! No leading and those ThugSlugs are soft! They have an intregral wad sort of like a Brenneke.

LOL,I put the wrong number down and thanks for catching that. No I measure the holes center to center. I've learned a long time ago not to post target pictures on this forum from others, sorry. 20 ga:drinks:

Good shooting! Sounds like a close range match rifle.

I have 2 - Marlin 512 Slug Masters these are 12ga but also have shot and sighted in a Savage 220. I think your leaving meat on the table if you don't try some sabot loads. The full rifled barrel was designed for sabot rounds and most sabot ammo to be sighted in dead zero at 150yrds. The sabots are in the .45 cal/250gr range at 1,600-1,900 FPS with 1,600-2,000Ft/LB energy.

I'll stick with that Thug Slug. I'ver never heard where fully rifled barrels were made specifically for sabot slugs. Apparently my Browning barrel doesn't know that.

Group size has nothing to do with bullet diameter. Benchrest guys try to shoot in the 1’s, meaning .100 to .199 group size. Matt of these shooters are using a .243 bullet.
