.41 mag loads for DE wadcutters

New member, been reloading rifle and handgun ammo for a couple years.
Decided to try wadcutters from Matt's bullets. Purchased some for .41, .44 mag, and .45 lc.

I can't find much with respect to load date for wadcutters for the .41 case. I found the .41 sticky on this site, but have not found it again. I read some 10 pages of the sticky and did not find load data to start with. The wadcutter bullets weight 205 g.

I see advice to take a 210 or 215 load and cut down by 15%. Was looking for someone with real world experience. The ammo will be shot from a Ruger new Blackhawk or a Henry .41 Big boy magnum.

I have seen the following on the web:
1. 7.5 g bullseye
2. 5.0 g tite group
3. 8.0 g unique
17.5 of AA#9
6 g trailboss

I appreciate any advice on loads you have made that are similar or pointing me to another source that is on the errornet.

Welcome! If you check on the NOE site there is a thread with Ranch Dog data for the NOE WC, good starting point. His data is from Quick Load, but it has held up in comparison to published data in many calibers for me. I have the NOE WC for my 41special, but haven't gotten much development done.

Notice the pressure headings, it's the calculated pressure for the bullseye load you found. Good luck and keep us updated.

I have a 41 cal 195gr WC, and use 7.6gr of Red Dot. I found load data in a Nick Harvey manual.

Most of the loads you mention are hotter than I would like with full WCs. I shot quite a few Lee WCs in my M57 with a light charge of Red Dot. I don't have my notes with me, but it wasn't over five grains. Very pleasant plinking and bullseye load. 231, Bullseye, and 700X would serve nicely at that level, too.

I don't have the 41 Cal, but have done extensive testing of full wadcutters in the 44mag. I agree that the loads listed by the OP could be reduced just a tad for a pleasant to shoot accurate load.

Are you seating these flush with the case mouth? I have a LEE wadcutter mold but haven't used it yet.

Might be in CB Loads/ Your favorite cartridge look under 41 mag it's in sticky. Hope this helps.

I have not loaded full wadcuters in the 41 but I can tell you that with a 200 DEWC in a 44 mag 6.0 of bullseye was enough for a nice light target load. In the smaller case with the same weight and the higher charge of 7.5 it won't be that light target load. If it were me I would start around 5.5 and see what happens over the chronograph. Then again I don't have quickload.
