I am making my own wads with durofelt. I used a mixture of 2 parts deer tallow to 1 part Beeswax.

I melted it all, poured in a pan over the felt. Picked up the felt to drip out excess and it seemed to be concealing on the bottom side thick. So I tried to drip it out and lay on tin foil and it got this. I put paper towels under it and baked at 250 for 5 minutes and its fine now. How do you do this without the paper towels and get an even product? I could keep doing this but it seems like a waste of lube and paper towels.

I made a press mounted punch and punch out my wads first. Then I quickly dip each wad in melted Gatofeo lube (mutton tallow:Paraffin:beeswax in 2:2:1 weight ratio). Then I wrap them in aluminum foil and cook them about 20 minutes at 230 F.

I prepunch mine as well and dip them in warm Gatofeo's lube then set aside to stiffen. Why are you guys hearing it up?

No, I wrap up the whole bunch in one packet. After dipping the wads are coated on the outside. The baking wicks the lube into the wad. Using this method I get the same result as commercially bought waxed wads.

I use a rack and a spring clip I clip the wad material to the rack and let it drip back into a pan. I punch after lubing with a drill press mounted wad punch I made up.
