My brother met him once in Florida, said he was a real nice, down to earth guy.
I always liked his on screen persona. They mentioned an interview with him where he talked about how cynical TV is and people are now. Too bad we don't have more Mayberry on TV now, people might be happier.
Seemed like a good guy. Never heard anybody sing Oh Holy Night as well as he did.
I didn't know he passed . I enjoyed him on TV . Will always remember Gomer . He was a good singer , seemed a good person . Sorry to hear this news .

Still makes me laugh, even after all these years! One thing I always wondered, was the kinda nasally voice really his?
Great voice. I'd read a number of years ago he had moved to Hawaii and would occasionally show up on the beach with a ukulele and play for people. Sorry he is gone. Another one from the golden age of TV.
Jim will be missed. He died in peace with his husband by his side.

I read an article yesterday that said he always had a very hard time watching the lead in to Gomer Pile (you'll remember him marching in formation with sergeant Carter yelling at him) because the people around him were real Marines and several of them who he got to know on that set were killed in Vietnam later.

I'd run into him several times over the years when he lived up here. Seemed real nice, and could be pretty darned funny at times.

He brought a lot of joy to people with his roles on the Mayberry RFD, Gomer Pyle, etc. not to mention his fantastic voice and singing - one of the "good guys" who I always heard was really down to earth. His mission on this earth was well fulfilled and may he now rest in peace and be with the angels - as far as I"m concerned, he was a true success and left this world aa better place than it was when he arrived. God bless you Jim Nabors.
