W680 powder

Hi

I've been loading 22 hornet and have been using Winchester 680, I'm out of powder now. Is this available in canister powder, or is there a direct replacememt for W680?

According to https://sites.google.com/site/sdturner/shooting/powder-burn-rate-table Winchester 680 falls in the middle of the burn rate chart at their position #70. Looks like this:
68 IMR 4247
69 Hodgdon H4227
70 Win 680
71 Accurate 5744
72 Accurate 1680

According to Hodgdons current burn rate chart
66 IMR 4247
67 Hodgdon H4227
68 Accurate 5744
69 Accurate 1680
Looks like W680 is not being made any longer. I would say these 4 powders are so close in burn rate any of them would work.

Sometimes I still find cans of WW680 at gun shows, so have a small stash of it.

I have gone to 1680 as a replacement in the K Hornet. Works good.

Plus AA1680 is a nearly identical small grain ball powder and runs through a powder measure easily like the old Winchester 680. I've switched from Win 680 to AA1680 in my 7.62x39mm bolt action mini-Mauser.

I guess I'll have to give AA1680 a try.

The next GS I'm at I'll have to look a little closer and see if someone has any old stock.

I have used WC-680 surplus for a few applications. It was indicated that starting loads could be developed using Win-680 or AA-1680 data. I don’t know if it still available or not. I purchased an 8-pound jug some years back. It will probably last for a long while as I don’t use much of it. But, at the time, the price was more than acceptable…

As far as I know W-680 was discontinued around 1990 or a little before. I still have a small amount left and have not seen any for sale in a long time. I use it for 25-20 win. and 375 supermag. I have tried AA-1680 for 22 hornet and it works pretty well with 45 and 50 grain bullets for me.

I have and use all 3.... WW680 (discontinued) W-680 (surplus) and 1680.

I find the oldest WW680 to be the fastest burning of the three. My W-680 surplus is very slightly slower burning. My 1680 is very close to the surplus W-680 in my experience. I have heard Accurate Arms used the surplus while they could get it to bottle 1680 before going to new manufacture. My 1680 is old enough that it must be the surplus as my loading of the two has shown me this.

I pretty much swapped straight to canister 1680 when I run out of 680 [well run out as in I have like 1-2 oz's left.]
i'll probably end up loading a handful of 25-20's with it just to make some room on the shelf.

For those who switched from W680 to AA1680 did you notice anything different with AA1680 ?? Sensitivity - Accuracy - Performance? or is it pretty much the same?

Picked up 2 of the 8# of the W680 a couple Creeks ago. It works the same as the 1680 in my 8 kurz loads.

WC 680 works the same as WW 680 in my 445 Supermag amd 357 Maximum. I haven't tried it in the 6.5 Grendle or 6 PPC yet. I don't have a Hornet.
Lil Gun, or H322 might be acceptable alternatives, also try AA 2200
