View Full Version : AVATAR & 'CHRISTMAS CHEER' . . . Win a CHRONOGRAPH !

OS OK

We have had a rough year here in the US with all the protests and violence...I thought, lets end it with some 'Good Old Fashioned- Christmas Cheer' and go out of 2017 on a 'high note'...
What would be better than to decorate the forum post's with 'Christmas Inspiring- A V A T A R - P I C T U R E S' full of Christmas colors, red/green/throw in some snow?/your grandkids with 'elves hats' on/anything you can think of....pictures of 'cheer & goodwill towards man'. Any picture that makes you feel 'warm and fuzzy' and makes you think of the Christmas Season...kinda 'old school' in a way.

Here's what I'm thinking...

1 (REQUIRED)>For the month of December, change your avatar to something described above. You can change the Avatar after entering if you find a better picture you want to use...(OPTIONAL)> You might leave a warm Christmas wish for everyone, tell a memorable Christmas story from your lives experiences [remember getting that first BB gun? or whatever you wish]

2 After the AVATAR is changed...post here..."I'm in!", that's all that is necessary.

3 It ends on Dec. 25, 2017...at that point I will write all your post numbers individually on a brass cartridge case and toss it in a box...give the box a good shaking and draw out one case, if it has your number...your the winner. I'll post that number and name on Dec. 26.

4 When you see that you have won...PM me your name and address and I'll have MidwayUSA drop ship this chronograph straight to your door.

Christmas Magic

Dear, look to the Christmas angel
atop your Christmas tree.
Then all your wishes will come true,
When she smiles down on you.
Listen to the bells of Christmas
ringing throughout the land
The church, the school, and sleigh bells, too,
sounds of love...old...yet...new.
In the middle of falling snow and sparkling crystal rain
when winds blow cold against the frosted window pane
there's a pleasant warmth felt everywhere in the merry Christmas glow
Since all your Christmas blessings dwell
as spirits in your heart;
become as Santa full of mirth.
Spread peace and joy on earth.

I'm in ... this is very generous of you.

My parents realized when I was very young that I did well with anything that I got the chance to shoot... rubber bands, a toy bow and arrow set, slingshot, about anything. After a while I was getting something every Christmas that would shoot.

I loved the Daisy Peace Keeper BB gun that I got on Christmas when I was 10 years old. It looked very realistic, and I got into mischief with it occasionally. One day my father heard a ringing noise outside and investigated. I was shooting from the alley into the back of the garage. When he saw that I was shooting at the blade on his table saw he about had a fit. He told me that I was doing a good job of shooting, but to please never shoot his table saw blade again. As I recall, that BB gun wasn't very strong... he caught me having my little brother stand inside behind the wall and hold his hand out against the metal screen door. I was shooting at his hand -- it didn't have enough power to penetrate the steel screen mesh, but it had enough oomph to make my brother squeal each time I got a bullseye :-).

That was back in the early 60's in Denver CO. About thirty five years later, after moving several times in my life, I wound up visiting my sister in Denver. I asked her to drive me to the house that we had lived in back then. As we started down the alley I remembered something, and blurted out "I wonder if that window pane on the side of the garage still has a BB hole in it .... it did! :-)

Wishing everyone happy and safe holidays...

This has been a bit of a slow start but, it's getting rolling now....thanks and 'Merry Christmas' to all who have gone to the trouble to enter.

This past summer my middle of three younger sisters came out to visit...while she was here one of her comments about the past was...

"Do you remember when you used to make us girls dance with that dang BB gun of yours?"

I had to laugh! It was my first and Christmas BB gun too! Sisters can dance pretty good!

Merry Christmas to all
Way back in the mid 70's we lived in a rural area. A large shooting club was only about a quarter mile away. We could always hear the range. Naturally my 2 boys were fascinated. We joined the club, took the Hunter Safety Class and had many great days there, but, the best was the BB and Pellet range we set up at home. It was used nearly daily in nice weather. I noticed that it was a way to work off disappointments and teen frustrations. Now both sons are shooters and one is a reload newby. You know.... it is heartwarming to see skills and passions passed on and enjoyed.

Well I'm in, this avatar is our Christmas tradition we break out a big bag of Nerf guns and darts, the grandparents, parents, grandkids, after food and presents it is random nerf attacks that break out for the rest of the day with assorted and shifting alliances among the dozen plus participants. We find the little foam darts in out of the way places clear through Easter. Makes me smile every time I find one. I think that hand in the foreground is his moms hand reaching past me to fire at her kid pinned down in the hall.

Even us big kids get to play with toys, it's a RogerDat rule.

I had cute, warm, fuzzy, family and pets pictures but at our house nothing says Christmas like nerf warfare.

Still making the Silver Bullets though. I have access to a kiln and have the crucible for the high temps required. Fortunately for me everyone is in a caliber I have.
I'm still trying to get my photo to show....more reading I guess.
