So after 30 years+ faithful service, I was in a class Sunday and the Trigger Bar Spring busted - when I got home I looked at several sites but all of them said "out of stock" and no date of expected restock and you couldn't backorder it. What to do, checking out other SIG's on hand the spring for the P220 had the exact shape I wanted so I removed it and tried it in my P225 - Ereaka it worked - checked the parts for P220 availability and have two springs headed my way.

Hope this helps someone out.

Artful, I had the same challenge a while ago and found the same answer as you. This fix was recommended to me from a Sig employee.

I've yet to break my P225 [AKA: P6] but it doesn't surprise me that a P220 trigger spring is identical. It's also good to receive confirmation that some parts are interchangeable.

SIG introduced the P220 [P75] in 1975 to replace the P210 [AKA Model 49] pistol used by the Swiss Army. When (then) West Germany was seeking a new police,...er polizei pistol; SIG simply reduced the overall size of the P220 to meet the requirements. The P220 and P225 are very closely related. They are also excellent pistols !!

Later when Sig Sauer introduced the double stack P226 they followed the same convention and created the compact P228 along the same lines.
