Just took an Uberti Schofield replica apart for a deep clean. It's been a while. On reassembly, the barrel latch needs to index a little indent on the rear facing right side (when looking down the barrel from the grip/hammer end) onto the slight protrusion of the "U" spring that keeps tension on the latch. If it doesn't index, the catch is very hard to open and it snaps back and forth when it is supposed to just move under tension.

I recall that there's a trick to it but cannot for the life of me remember. Nor do I find anything on The Google.

Help much appreciated.

Never mind. Remembered. The "U" spring needs to be pushed out slightly to catch the indent on the latch. Placed a grain of extruded powder behind the spring, enough to catch the indent. Once indexed, it gets crushed. Anyway. All good.

That trick/knowledge is worth sending in to Brownell's for their next "Gunsmith Kinks" book.
