Hey guys, lookin to load my M95. I'm loading a 145gr LFP GC boolit. I was curious as to what load data, if any, you guys have with either 5010 or WC860.

I'm not lookin to hunt with her just yet. Just want some moderate loads to see how she does with lead for now.. :lovebooli

Kuato, I'm workin' on it! Mebbeso I'll have some results in a week or so, but mostly I'm working with WW760 powder, the Lee 130gr. and the RCBS 168gr. I have many loads for j-words that I have used successfully in my Model 70 and '98 Brazillian which might be a little stiff for your rifle.

10 gr Unique or 16.0 2400 will be excellent starting points.

Work up a grain at a time until you get the accy you want.

Thanx MtGun,
But never been a fan of fast pistol powders in a rifle case. Thats why I'm lookin for loads with 5010 &/or WC860 (besides, I have like 64# of each).. I'm just weird that way:lol:

HABCAN, lemme know what ya come up with...

Kuato, did you try the search funtion? Put in "7x57" and "860" or "wc860" and you should get lots of good reading.

At the bottom of this page click on Castpics. Go to research and data, members loads and agree to the disclaimer. 7x57 is in there. Gianni

The above were fired from M98/08 Brazilian Mauser with the RCBS 7mm-168 (172grs lubed & GC), sized .285". Full cases of the listed powders. Range was 50 yards. The cases were W-W, several times fired and neck sized only.

What does your Chilean slug?

Hey Buckshot, My rifle slugs out @ .284. I have been looking for that same RCBS mold cheaper, but haven't had any luck (Don't wanna shell out $60 some odd + handles just yet)..

I have some 145gr GC boolits that look like a SIL type. 42.0gr load is about what I was going to try out to see what it did.. Same with 5010. I'm also using Lapua cases.

Thanx a bunch for the info. I had seen the load data before, but I was looking for input with lighter boolits since thats all I have for now..

Well I shoot cast in my M95 with 22" barrel but not with 5010 or WC860. That kind of narrowed it down obviously.

FYI; I use the original semi Lovern style RCBS 28-168-FN. I use mostly 4895 with a dcaron filler for 1900 fps. However 22 gr of 4759 runs 1830 fps and is quite accurate.

i use the same 4895 load larry does but mine prefers the h brand over the i brand.
and ain't nothing wrong with 20 gr 2400 in it either. with a pistol primer it will surprise you with it's consistency. and it makes a bad day for small animals.
if 5010 is near 4831 in burn rate start about 36gr's and go up.

Would you mind sharing your load data with me? I, too, have a Chilean Carbine, a jug of surplus 4895, and a 28-168 RCBS mould. The stock may look like it was drug behind a pickup down a gravel road in Jasper, TX, but the metal is good and the bore is very nice.

I have a load using WC872 (essentially the same as Buckshot's load with WC860), but I have more of the 4895 so would like to shoot that.

I use 28 gr of milsurp 4895 with a 3/4 gr dacron filler with WLR primers. Cases are formed from unfired LC62 Match '06 cases. Necks are turned for concentricity but left thick. I most often cast the 28-168-FN bullets out of an alloy of 6-4 / WW - linotype alloy. Since I don't shoot many of these I have't got around to getting a .286/.287 sizer so I use a .284 sizer in a 450 to just seat the Hornady GC and leave the bullet diameter as cast at .286". I put 3 coats of LLA on them and then push them through a fired case with the head cut of (sort of a cake cutter) which removes the excess lube from the sides of the bullet. I get no leading at the 1900 or so fps I shoot them at. The bullet is seated so the leade slightly engraves the bullet. The throat of the chamber is long enough for this. As I recall the GC is still in the neck.
