Titegroup under a 158XTP, in .357 magnum Starline brass, 1.59"OAL, primer either CCISPM (not needed I know, but is what Hodgdon lists in their data) or CCISP out of an 18.5" barrel. I may even be able to seat it out to near 360DW lengths if needed, but Hodgdon does not list data for it on their website. Could I also get a general idea based on an OAL of 1.65"? I am going to measure the chamber with a few dummy rounds at longer lengths, but if I remember correctly I am able to seat this bullet out this far in my chamber.

I am looking for velocity estimates and possible pressure differences between the two primers and OAL.

Thanks in advance.

Titegroup is the wrong powder for that application. You want a slower powder.

Thank you 17nut.

I want velocities at least 1,300 fps and below 1,500 fps. QL shows that estimated velocity of 1,300 fps with the Hodgdon max listed charge of 6.1 grains, but (if I am reading it correctly) recommends a max charge of 7 grains? I have some HP-38 that I was going to try, but was wondering if Titegroup could make a doable combo. I am pretty sure that H110 and 2400 are too slow and will push velocities faster than I want. Those are the four powders I currently have to work with though.

With a 158 XTP you might consider 11.3 grains of 2400. I used that load in my rifle Wednesday to take a deer. Velocity is at the low end of what you want.

It's time to buy some Unique. It is exactly what you need; mild to semi wild.

Thank you RJ11. Now hat I look at my Lyman manual, it shows a starting load of 12gr for rifle at 1472 fps from a 20" barrel. I will load up a handful between the two to find acceptable accuracy.

TBG, Unique is unobtanium locally and I hate hazmat fees. It is on my short list of pistol powders to get though.
