Got discharged in August of 1967, went back to the machine shop I was working at before the Corp, worked night shift and went to college during the day. Used the GI bill for college funding.
Graduated BS Electrical Engineering in four years. The Marine Corp taught me to work hard to be successful.
Be a long time since the service.

Just for some perspective, that's an M-14 in my hands. It looks small because of my size. At that time I was 6'7" tall and weighed 240-ish. At 70 years old, I'm still a little over 6'6" tall and weigh about the same or a little less. Now you know why my nickname has been "Treetop" all my adult life, LOL.

Semper Fi and Happy Birthday to all of my Marine brothers, Treetop

I had a beer tonight for all my fallen brothers;and sent a prayer for those who still have nightmares and a hard time dealing with things we did, or saw... I'm in a good place and wish I could carry the load for even one day for those still struggling.....any service member having a hard time pm me please, especially if you feel like doing something rash and permanent, you've nothing to lose by reaching out to me.
Happy birthday brothers!

Happy B-day! & Semper Fi! Devil dogs!
:drinks:

I am posting a day late because I was out to the local VFW/Amer. Legion post with my oldest son last night celebrating. It is at tradition for me to celebrate the Corps B-day even after leaving active duty in the Corps.
So , wishing all of ya a great Veterans day today as well!

Hey SSGOldfart, my wife and son say that to me all the time.. BIL and I went to the VFW this afternoon, had a good time talking to some of the other CORP vets that were there.. Bob, funny thing is that we talked about all of the good times we had in Corp, not one "war story" ever came up.
