Anyone reload the aluminum case Blazer????
Picked up some at the range and noticed they were boxer primed.
I always though Blazers were Berdan primed.

They were Berdan primed at least at the start. Is the primer a standard size?I personally wouldn't reload it.

They seem to be Boxer primed now. They take the standard small pistol primer. I reloaded one once, just to see if it could be done, and had no issues, but I wouldn’t make a habit of it.

They’ve been boxer primed for some years now. I’ve reloaded a few in the past just to see how it works, now I just throw away anything that’s not brass.

Low pressure rounds like .45 acp did ok, but higher pressure like 9 and .40 had a lot of split cases. Brass is so cheap nowadays that aluminum empties aren’t worth even thinking about, in my opinion.

I reloaded some eight times. Only one case split, but by then primer pockets became loose and bullets were much easier to seat than brass cases at the equivalent stage in their lives.

I'm just talking . There are many more experienced than me but reloading aluminum cases seems a fail . Would be interesting as an experiment in loading but with 9mm brass so cheap why would it be feasible ? When aluminum cases came out I never thought they would be a resource to reload except as a last alternative much like steel cases .

Will USPS flat rate boxes go to HI?

Honestly, that’s rather impressive!

They should.

Boaz: sometimes people, myself included, do it just to see if it can be done, it’s not always about common sense!

they definitely will.
I have got them from there full of brass cases a couple of times.

In that case, @abunaitoo if you’re hard up for 9mm brass please pm your address. If you’re just exercising curiosity then I wish you the best of luck in your research.

I have a 50ct. box of them in 44mag. Given to me some time ago as a replacement for some that I loaned a buddy to shoot of brass ones. He forgot to return the brass & did not look in the box or read on the box that they are not to be reloaded per the warning in the fine print. I have not looked at the primers, as I did not care since being alum. I was not going to reload them anyway, so I do not know which primer style they are.

They are also only recommended for indoor ranges for some reason. I am guessing light loads perhaps...
Anyway, I am just going to go plink with them sometime or give them to someone I know who wants to plink with them. I reload 44M so much less expensive than what I can buy them for that I have no intention of buy factory any longer.

If anyone were to ask me about reloading them, I would say, " only in a pinch if for some reason I did not have brass & even then I would not expect much out of them. They are better, IMO, to be reused as a jewelry item or some sort of art project."
LOL
;)

But, for those who want to be frugal & try them, Have at it! Just not for me...

Yes. We, and Alaska, are a part of the United States of America.
I use it almost all the time when shipping.
I wish they would make a Extra large flat rate box.

I have enough 9mm brass.
I was just wondering about the Blazers.
Seems like a waste to not reload them, if it works as well as brass cases.
I may try some.
Thanks

Another consideration with the blazer aluminum cases is that aluminum is more abrasive than brass. From the blazer I have seen there is a coating on the outside that may act as a lubricant and could wear off causing wear on dies ( more so steel then carbide). I also believe aluminum will work harden faster than brass does.
I had several boxes of 44 spl Blazer ammo ( got it with a pistol I bought) and when fired the case mouths had little pieces missing out of them not sure but makes me think brittle

Yes, but that doesn’t mean that it isn’t possible that the USPS would have limited flat rate service to the continental US. It was just a question, I wasn’t trying to take away HI’s statehood, I was offering to help you out if you were in a brassless condition.

No offense taken.
You'd be surprised how many people still don't know we are part of the Good old US of A.
When I used to travel to the states, I used to ask as a joke, if stores would take money from Hawaii.
You'd be more surprised to know some people said "NO".
Thanks for the offer, I have enough brass.
Do you need .223 brass????

Thanks, I’m good on .223. May actually be in HI in January for a couple weeks, work trip. I’ll bring my passport just in case ;-)

Shipping to Hawaii. Remember their motto? If it fits - it ships anywhere the USPS delivers. If you get mail from the continental US at your house or PO box you'll get FRB's also.

Go to http://about.usps.com/postal-bulletin/2009/pb22265/html/info1_004.htm

Look in the Organization Information tab. under the domestic pricing you'll see "Delivery to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands at domestic prices."

New law in Hawaii.
No talking, looking, playing with any hand held device while crossing the street.
It's a law that is needed. We have so many cell phone zombies around.
They walk aimlessly into traffic all the time.

Some of the aluminium "brass" is berdan, most is standard boxer primed. I wouldn't recommend anyone follow suit but I have a ton of aluminum that was gifted by a local girl that recovers brass. I have reloaded some before and it worked fine. Some was even loaded to excessive pressure USPSA loads and did fine. After that it gets trashed. One reload only. Its great for "lost brass" matches.

I look for the used blazer boxes at the range for my reloads.
