Anyone reload the aluminum case Blazer????
Picked up some at the range and noticed they were boxer primed.
I always though Blazers were Berdan primed.

They were Berdan primed at least at the start.Is the primer a standard size?I personally wouldn't reload it.

They seem to be Boxer primed now. They take the standard small pistol primer. I reloaded one once, just to see if it could be done, and had no issues, but I wouldn’t make a habit of it.

They’ve been boxer primed for some years now. I’ve reloaded a few in the past just to see how it works, now I just throw away anything that’s not brass.

Low pressure rounds like .45 acp did ok, but higher pressure like 9 and .40 had a lot of split cases. Brass is so cheap nowadays that aluminum empties aren’t worth even thinking about, in my opinion.

I'm just talking . There are many more experienced than me but reloading aluminum cases seems a fail . Would be interesting as an experiment in loading but with 9mm brass so cheap why would it be feasible ? When aluminum cases came out I never thought they would be a resource to reload except as a last alternative much like steel cases .

I have a 50ct. box of them in 44mag. Given to me some time ago as a replacement for some that I loaned a buddy to shoot of brass ones. He forgot to return the brass & did not look in the box or read on the box that they are not to be reloaded per the warning in the fine print. I have not looked at the primers, as I did not care since being alum. I was not going to reload them anyway, so I do not know which primer style they are.

They are also only recommended for indoor ranges for some reason. I am guessing light loads perhaps...
Anyway, I am just going to go plink with them sometime or give them to someone I know who wants to plink with them. I reload 44M so much less expensive than what I can buy them for that I have no intention of buy factory any longer.

If anyone were to ask me about reloading them, I would say, " only in a pinch if for some reason I did not have brass & even then I would not expect much out of them. They are better, IMO, to be reused as a jewelry item or some sort of art project."

Yes. We, and Alaska, are a part of the United States of America.
I use it almost all the time when shipping.
I wish they would make a Extra large flat rate box.

I have enough 9mm brass.
I was just wondering about the Blazers.
Seems like a waste to not reload them, if it works as well as brass cases.

Another consideration with the blazer aluminum cases is that aluminum is more abrasive than brass. From the blazer I have seen there is a coating on the outside that may act as a lubricant and could wear off causing wear on dies ( more so steel then carbide). I also believe aluminum will work harden faster than brass does.
I had several boxes of 44 spl Blazer ammo ( got it with a pistol I bought) and when fired the case mouths had little pieces missing out of them not sure but makes me think brittle

When I used to travel to the states, I used to ask as a joke, if stores would take money from Hawaii.

Some of the aluminium "brass" is berdan, most is standard boxer primed. I wouldn't recommend anyone follow suit but I have a ton of aluminum that was gifted by a local girl that recovers brass. I have reloaded some before and it worked fine. Some was even loaded to excessive pressure USPSA loads and did fine. After that it gets trashed. One reload only. Its great for "lost brass" matches.
