SOLD SOLD SOLD

This was an untouched IMA rifle I paid $650 for. The forend wood was rotted at the stock anchor point like a lot are, but this one was extensive. The area has been cut clean and needs a new piece spliced in. Same for the buttstock in two points. I have the wood, the skills but no time and bills are piling.

The metal bits are all in excellent shape with a perfect bore and chamber. Centered, strong primer strikes.

If you know how to perform stock repairs this is a very shootable rifle at a greatly reduced price.

Asking $440 shipped to your door. No FFL required. I will throw in brass cases too.

For anyone who buys this or one like it, here is a useful source of parts and info on parts:

Everything pre-.303 in centrefire Martinis, or which doesn't bear gas pressure, is free of legal controls in the UK

This rifle is complete by the way, the only parts I did not clean were the two upper barrel bands still in grease.

Ah, I started typing before your second set of pictures appeared.

Almost all of these rifles are in .577/.45 But anybody examining one won't be wasting his time by checking to see if it is a slightly smaller calibre, with rounded rifling and a smaller, almost straight case. They were originally made for a .402 cartridge, about the best there is for sustained fire with a black powder rifle. But almost all were converted to .577/.450, for colonial troops, when they got the word that the French had made smokeless powder work in rifles, and they started work on the .303. The very few which remained in .402 are likely to be valuable, and easier to make shoot well.

My luck is such that it would be a cold day I found myself with a .402 unconverted Mark IV. But if .577-450 brass doesn't fit I'll consider the .402. Always good for the history of these to be restated.

I have two of them and they are awesome shooters.
