I picked this up awhile back and only bought it because it was different. Not positive what caliber it is even for. A 270 fits it ok, a 30-30 goes in but the rim thickness makes it hard to get in and out. 38 special is swimming. I couldn't really find any info on the net about it and was just curious if any of you knew where it came from or its purpose. Its marked S & S but that's it.
Sorry for the sideways photos i'm not sure what happened and cant fix it.

From the mounting, it looks like it fits a Hollywood, Dunbar or C-H press. As for the universal design, I haven't seen it before. Maybe Pressman will be able to give you some information on it.

Don't ask Pressman, I have never seen one either.
It is an interesting design however. I would like to see the reasoning for the design.

Negstar, I would like to use your pictures in the next Journal as a what is it?

Reminds me of a bolt in type Bonanza variation shell holder. I'd a bought it too, can't help it.
