I'm looking at the Savage 11 FCNS in .308. Current rebates make it look attractive. Anyone here have one? If so, how do you like it?

I have/have had several savage rifles every one of them has shot well. I think all of mine right now are 12s, but I know there was an 11 in 204 in my safe a could years ago that shot under 1/2" pretty regularly.

I don't really care for savage rifles they feel clunky and flimsy in most factory configurations, but they shoot well enough I keep a couple around for various reasons.

Redriverhunter- on the now-standard matte black easy rust finish: take the barreled action out of the stock. Clean all the rust off with steel wool, rinse off then heat till it's very hot to the touch. Summer sun is the easiest. Now take normal motor oil and rub it all over the steel. When it cools reassemble and check your zero. I've done this to Remingtons, Savages, and Rugers. It lasts well and deer don't care about machinery smells. The smell will go away in a day or three. I hope this helps.

I'd be shocked if it won't shoot moa or less. Savages shoot great.

I have the Savage 11 in .260 Rem. Its a great accurate riffle. Was the quickest tune and load work up I have ever done. I have experience with savage axis and savage 11. Both are great guns. The 11 has a decent sturdy stock. Over the years I am thinking both guns would look better with wood. Savage 11 is kind of heavy though, but makes it better to shoot.

After posting this question I came across an ad from Dick's for a T/C Compass for $179 after $75 rebate. I just couldn't pass it up. MOA shooter in .308 for under $200 net- not a beauty but it is a shooter.
