In Due Time
1 Peter 5:5-6 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. 6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
In many passages, the Bible tells us to humble ourselves, to submit one to another and be clothed with humility. Many times we get it backwards and try to make a name for ourselves instead of waiting for God to manifest His plan.
Yet we see it made clear in this passage where we are told to humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God and He will exalt us in due time. That's an interesting phrase; "in due time". It means "in season" or when it is appropriate. Can you imagine what would happen if a fruit tree were to bring forth fruit out of season. If the fruit comes too early it would likely be destroyed in a late freeze and if it came too late there would not be time for it to ripen. Therefore the trees bear their fruit in season or in due time.
We have no control over when we bear fruit. That is all up to God. If we are patient, according to God's will, we will bear fruit and be exalted at the appointed time. God's plan is always the right plan and if we wait on Him, He will fulfill his divine purpose in due time.
