I restored this little guy and ordered a box of magtec ammo to try in it. The double action spring is so strong that at times my pointer finger cannot cycle it. I have to use my middle finger to get the job done. I works fine cocking it as a single action. I would assume it's designed like this to keep from accidentally firing? Just wondering if I could work the spring to lighten it a little so I could run it as a double action without having Lu Ferigno fingers. It's not like I'm going to fire this on a daily basis but I would like to make it a workable double action.

Is it possible possible and if so how is it done?

I have one of these, it was my Grandfather's starter pistol when he coached track at our high school (1920s-1950s). He used to keep it in his pocket while teaching history and would pull it out and fire a blank when students dozed off. Imagine that today? They eventually made him principle because he didn't tolerate nonsense.
Oh yes, your spring question. Well these things were not as well engineered as a Haemmerli so gently grinding the mainspring nice and uniformly over its length will lighten the load but remember you will also hit the point of "maypop"!:Fire: I would send it to the S&W performance shop, that way it will have the most delightful SA letoff of any suicide special. Let us know how you do tuning it, I will share my special .32 S&W recipe with you if you like the way it shoots!

Does the S&W Performance Center work on non-S&W guns?

I was kidding, but it might be fun to send one of these to them and ask for all kinds of accurizing etc. just to see how long you can hold a straight face!:lol:
