This is a bit of a continuation of this thread --> http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?345990-I-have-to-brag-a-little!
where I posted about meeting Jerry Miculek and him autographing my S&W 929 JM case!

Since there was some interest in the match itself like pictures of, I thought it deserved it's own thread. Enjoy!

I do video all of my shooting with a GoPro Hero 4 Session that I have mounted on my ear pro. That gives me an almost perfect 1st person view of my shooting which is great for going back and using for analysis of my runs. I can see what I did right and wrong, where I pulled a shot, or where I cleaned house on a stage, this kind of thing. It falls short on showing my movement as a whole, foot placement, this kind of thing since it is mounted to my head. If I don't look at it or in the general direction, it's not captured. So its nice to pass my phone off to a buddy for filming to get another angle! I usually don't do that and I just capture a few stages here or there. I didn't get much picture wise but here is some video footage instead!

As far as my thoughts on the match... It was a great match! Very well organized, well staffed, and fun stages! I wished I had placed better and was poised to do decent in my class, Open Division, C-class. I had one stage, videoed and posted below, that I absolutely tanked due to a mechanical failure. Really stinks, I was on a tear that stage before the jamb up occurred and perhaps could have been my most well executed stage. Back home we shoot USPSA every Friday night at our home sponsor/host range in Wichita, Range 54. When you shoot, you get your brass back if desired but its common to get/give a piece or few mixed from someone else's run. The round that locked up my gun was found and it had some distinct marks I recognized as fired from another club member's gun that has a Schuemann AET barrel. It's the only one I know of that has a fluted chamber and poorly supported casehead and the only one I've been around was this members gun and that's where the bad round came from. I have always struggled more with outdoor matches for some reason. I am a regularly occurring top finishing shooter indoors but outside, with the same guys, I have struggled. In this match, finally things were starting to look better, like i'm finally shaking off the reins holding me back. I was really eager to see how I would stack up after the dust settled. Because of that hard jamb and dropping out of that stage due to mechanical failure, that tanked my match standings that otherwise should have been decent. I was understandably PO'ed. Ultimately it's my fault for not case gauging every single round but I've never had a reason to before. Guns that swell up 9mm brass are almost nonexistent and my Dillon dies have always ensured properly sized rounds that feed & function. They however can't size out brass that is blown out that far down the body by that stupid Schuemann brass destroying barrel. Absolutely idiotic... If that was such a good design it would be used by other top barrel makers but oddly its not. I placed 4th from dead last in Open Division because of that. There's my rant for the day. So besides that, I did genuinely have fun, liked the match and I feel more confident with my outdoor performance. It's coming around. I did however win a prize pack at the award ceremony in the random drawings! I got a pack from Rudy Project, a cool shirt, a nice hat and some really nice Rudy Project sunglasses that ordinarily are like $180! So that was very welcome after feeling a little dejected and put a nice cherry on top! So it's live and learn and the best lessons are hardest taught like normal! One of the videos below had a little additional comical value added to it! One of the Okie guys I shoot with was an RO on that stage and he's normally a pretty funny dude to be around! Such a character most of the time, we all know someone like this! Well I apparently sent a piece of brass down his shoe and in the middle of the stage he's hopping around doing the hot brass dance! He was just fine, no injury, just got his attention that's all! Anyhow, enjoy!

Thanks for sharing the narrative & videos!
:)

Glad to hear ya had a great time!
:)

I had to laugh in the 3rd video as the fella behind ya was dancing around. Glad it did not do much damage. I know the feeling of hot brass hitting ya.
;)

Looks like it was pretty windy in the 4th one. I will watch them again in a little while, as I have something to go do right now.

Thanks again for posting!
:)

It was pretty good & I enjoyed it! It was very windy but luckily the berms are tall and surrounding. We did have to reset some steel a few times that blew over but we've fought mother nature on much worse terms. I can't complain, it stayed overcast, cool and dry. Really apart from the wind the weather was perfect!
