I think he is trying to show a power difference between the two calibers but...I saw something a little different.
We have all seen gel tests and side views of the gel revealing the expansion that the pressure wave develops in the gel, seen the penetration and the expansion of different rounds but...we don't see just how large that pressure wave actually can expand the soft tissue as the round impacts the media.
This clay shows something of a 'stop in time' at the maximum expansion of the clay. It's interesting to observe.
I know that clay and gel are not exact representations of flesh/bone and meat but they do give us some insight into external ballistics and the awesome power of a pistol round.
