Both are Miroku built 1895's. One is a 30-06 and the other is a .405 Winchester. Both are take downs and have case colored receivers. They were both new in the box. Found the 06 by placing a WTB ad on another forum. After buying the 06 was searching Gunsamerica and the .405 popped up one day out of the blue. Price was fair so jumped on it quick. I previously owned a .405 but sold it after a bison hunt thinking I would never use it on deer and soon regretted it.

Both will hopefully bag a deer this coming season. Just ordered more brass and bullets for the .405. Added a Williams receiver sight to the previous .405 rifle I owned but this time around will see how the buckhorns work up to 50 yards. If I can get 2 inches or better at 50 yards will stay with the original sights.

Nice !

I actually installed an XS peepsight originally meant for the Marlin 1894 (flat base) into the flat rear half of the bolt top on my .405 Miroku 1895 - then installed the higher XS White Line front sight blade to achieve zero ( I blacked out the white line).

That was over 10 years ago, and now XS makes/sells peep/front sets for the M-1895.

Congratulations, the Miroku 1895's are fine rifles. I dont know how the .405 will shoot but my 1895 SRC in .30-06 shoots under 2" at 100 yards with the factory sights pretty easily. Haven't had time to take my .30-40 out yet to see if it will shoot as well.

Agree. The previous .405 I owned was capable of 1.5 MOA at 100 yards with a receiver sight. And this is from a 64 year old guy who wears glasses.

I have a friend who picked up a trio....270, 30/06, and 405 Win.
Sweet looking guns, appear at least on par with originals, perhaps better with todays steels and manufacturing tech.
