I am trying to load some W-W .45-70 cases that I've cut down to 1.78 inches. My RCBS #14 Shell holder is only working on about half the cases. I measured the rim thickness. The rim on the ones that are fitting are .065. THe ones that don't fit are running about .069. All of the cases seem to be well within the standard. I've used the shell holder in the past for a variety of cases and never had a problem. I've cleaned and degreased the shell holder. Nothing packed in it. Any thoughts?

I had issues with a shellholder similar to what you are having, but it wasn't an RCBS. I just purchased a new shellholder at a local gun shop and took a few of the offending brass cases with me to make sure it would work.
Haven't had an issue since.

The slot in the shell holder may have been cut with a slightly worn cutter. Call RCBS and tell them about it......they'll ship you a replacement for free.

Thanks for the tip. Called RCBS today. They are mailing out a new shell holder.

Had a 30 carbine RCBS shellholder that would accept most but not all cases. RCBS sent a new one as well.

Can't beat that RCBS no BS customer service...
