Mold experts needed

This is an unmarked mold no maker ID and no diameter or weight. Looks to be .300-.358 or something close maybe. I don't have a small pot or handles to cast something and try it.

It appears that I can't see too good. I think its roughly around .374+ something and possibly has been cherried for a gas check on the base of the bullet. Would that make it 8mm or somewhere around there? Tring to make a guess here without actually casting something.

Could possibly be but it looks like someone made a very nice cherry for that mold. Its dirty on the outside but I'm sure it will cast fine. I may just have to gently put it into the vice and pour some lead in it to finally see what it is diameter wise and weight wise.

The other molds look to be smoked but the mold insides don't appear to be hurt any.

.374 is too big for 8mm.

I'm making a guess trying to get some idea of the diameter with a pair of calipers. The real way would be to dump some lead in it.

I suggest you cast using Cerrosafe or similar. Your dia's will be spot on at a low temp, like 150degrees. This will also give you an idea of any burrs etc that may cause problems.

The last tool room I worked in was a fully equipped shop. With the cnc cutter grinders mills lathes surface ID and OD grinders along with the jig grinders and jig bores making a mould wouldn't be an issue nor would making a cherry To cut the cavities. Or we could have made a carbon electrode and burned them in the edm. We did a lot of die cast mould cavities in the edms along with some stamping die forming stations for fans and other odd parts.

We made a lot of parts for the plant and there was a lot of "government" work that went on also. I seen a couple 5 horse briggs and straton blocks machined out of solid stock for a jr dragster one winter. It was amazing what could be done when we put our heads together. Most of the better shops are like this

If your looking at the pictures in post #1 I can assure you they are matched but not lined up with each other. If your looking at post #2 then there is one mold tht has two different sized bullets in it. A 220gr and 310 gr are in the same mold and the caliber is 44 mag or possibly a carbine.

Construction is just like a Mountain Mold. Must be an early custom size...no numbers.

While I appreciate the PM's wanting to purchase the mystery mold for as much as $30.00 more if I can find handles. This thread is to find out who may have been the manufacturer. When I am indeed serious about selling I will promise to put it in the for sale section of the forum along with a bunch of Lee molds with handles that I also picked up.

I just cast 2 bullets with a cold mold one shot only holding the mold under my Ballisti-cast bullet caster. While wrinkled and surely not grade A bullet I did manage a weight and a diameter. The weight is 250gr and the diameter unsized is .376.5-.377 per my vernier caliper.

I'm not n expert in rifle bullets but it looks to me like the base is setup for a gas check.

What calibers is this good for?

Looks to be similar to Lyman 375248.
