Just shot a couple rounds of trap with my Remington TAC-14. Since this an "OTHER" I am posting it as a handcannon.
When Mossberg introduced the Shockwave I stated if Remington did the same I would get one. Remington has a $50.00 dollar rebate and I found one for $349.95 I couldn't say no. It came in on Monday and I ran a box of trap loads through it at cans and milk jugs. It was more fun than expected. Wednesday is trap night. Dad bet me dinner that I couldn't break 10 with it. First round shot at 12 and second round shot a 16. It's a small club and just about everyone put a couple of rounds thru it. Total tonight was about 100 rounds total.
Trigger is very good. Action is smooth. The raptor grip makes it legal but that is the only good thing I can say about it. 3 dram loads are brisk. Not sure I want to try a 1 7/8 turkey load in it. It has the plastic express trigger assembly but overall I am more impressed with it than expected. Also more fun than expected.
Point of impact seems to be fairly high. I had a hard time not shooting over the top of the clay birds. I wonder if anyone else has shot two rounds of trap with one? With the raptor grip held at eye level the trigger guard does hit my middle finger so 50 shots was enough for tonight.
Glad I purchased it. With a laser and forearm strap the raptor grip would be very effective from the hip.
For trap I held left arm straight and pulled with the right hand at eye level. I not sure who laughed more. Me or the people watching me?
It is going to get a high vis. front bead or sight and screw in choke tubes.
