My old Winchester 1892 44-40 (27,xxx) is probably like most other 1892 carbines and has a large chamber area. For some time I used a standard 44wcf Winchester mold that dropped a .427 boolit that sadly did nothing for GOOD accuracy. I resorted to bumping that bullet up to .431 which helped....
But along came a Rapine mold 429-260 gr. It actually casts soft lead at .433 and with 9-10 grains of Unique has all the accuracy I can hold. Any 3 inch rock out 70 yards is easy to hit from sitting position. No leading and terrific impact.
So if your large chamber 44-40 is giving you fits... check out that Rapine mold. :)
I am not an employee or have any financial connection to Rapaine.
