Well, I just bought a new Mossberg 590A1. I was looking through my stash and found 100 50 cal lead balls.
Anyone have a good 3 ball load for WW hulls?

I haven't done it but I have to think those would be pretty light and small for typical tri-ball loads. A deep shotcup and equivalent weight slug or shot load should get you a powder charge okay but stacking those could be tricky.

You might try looking at James Gates (Dixie Slugs) Tri-Ball recipes but those are for 3 x 0.600" balls so considerably heavier and larger diameter. Do a search for Tri-Ball and that should get you to those threads and recipe.

Also, James recommended using hard balls so they don't deform and jam so that is another consideration if you have soft lead round balls.

FWIW

I've always thought of "tri-ball" as "Ultimate Bucksot"! Three .600 balls, yowza!!!

Beware when loading 2 or 3 ball loads. Balls must be absolutely in line each other (not staggered).
I' ve seen bulged barrels (at forcing cone area) with balls not put in line.

Those sound like muzzleloader balls which is a big no-no due to the fact that they're pure lead. I'm loaded quite a few of these in .60 cal with hard alloy lead and they still flatten out on one side.

I use water dropped wheel weight metal .60 caliber balls for my tri-ball loads, I wouldn't use anything softer than a very hard alloy.
