Seen here next to an NOE 279-124 . 1 with and without a check .
203885

There doesn't seem to be any information about the what it was for or why the long tail . This one drops .279+ at 122 gr and takes a 270 Hornady check well and securely . Maybe it was meant to be paper patched ?

Lyman cut the .270 Winchester boolits big. Mine is 35 years old and casts around .281"-282".

I used it in a short barreled 7-08 with 1 1/2" accuracy at 100 yards.
My (Do-All Tool Saver?) hot load silver plated the bore but after the first shot they kept zinging right on in there. The rifling geometry gets to be very important!
Fired jacketed to clean it.
About paper patching it, it's on my list.
