I was looking on ebay at Mauser replacement sporter stocks. How do they attach to the barrel? Do they use a handguard and forearm band like military issue rifles?

I answered my own question--I looked at my sporterized 93 Mauser. The stock is held on by the two action screws.
Another question: does anyone make and sell a fore end cap for cut-off stocks?

...........Midway and Brownells have forend tips. Black plastic works just fine. For my M95 Steyr conversion to 30-40 Krag I just bought a piece of walnut, stained it a different 'brown' and used that.
