Found a Stevens 44 25 rimfire with a bad barrel. Was thinking on rebarreling to 22 LR. Does firing pin need moved? If so what is needed to make this work?

I recently converted a .32 RF pistol to .22 RL and the same firing pin worked fine.
Now mine was done with a barrel liner epoxied in the barrel and cylinder adapters epoxied into the cylinder because I had to make a notch in the rim of the adapter to clear the original firing pin.
But If I wanted to, I could have made the adapters removable and just narrowed up the tip of the firing pin.

The Stevens Model 44 Firing pin typically is at An Angle trending Upward and has a 'wedge Shape Tip that usually will "hit' on a .22, .25, or .32 Rimfire Rim; But not always Well.
IF you Can do the work, it is better to make a Firing Pin with a Tip Made to hit the rim size you intend to fire.

I did a Remington #4 rolling block .25-10 (.25 Stevens) to .22 LR. The firing pin did not need any modification at all.

Just finished a Favorite from 25 to 22. Firing pin hits enough to work but it is close to the edge. On a 32 rim fire I had to move the firing pin a bit. Moving the hole and making a new firing pin with the end off center works fine.
