I'm loading for a Browning 1885 45-70 made in 1985. Would like to try a Beartooth or Penn bullet But due to what appears to be a short throat I'm uncertain what will work. I like the looks of the 350 Pile Driver and Penn 330 and 350. I use smokeless powder only. I seated a 350gr Speer backwords and have .116 from base of bullet to rim of case. Just wondering if anyone here has experience w/Beartooth or Penn bullets in a Browning 1885.

Do a pound slug of your chamber and get the one that fits your barrel the best.
