Looking for some tips on powder. I have tite group, w231, vv320, universal clays, h110, blue dot, autocomp, wst, wsf, and be86.
Casting 356x120
401x175
358x158.
Powder coat and resized to 357, 401, 358.
Guns are glocks. Ar9 carbine. 586 and 686 with 6 inch barrels.
Testing some .40 with 4.0 of tg and 4.3 of w231.
Any guidance for the noob?
Thanks

try 3,5 of the titegroup in the 40. [be-86 would be a good one in this cartridge too]
universal in the 357
231 does pretty fair in the 9mm

Power pistol will run all of them if you want to simplify.

Thank you all so much. As soon as it cools off I am definitely giving this some test loads.

That AR9 should do well with Auto Comp. Mine does. Although, I am not feeding it cast yet. I just started working with a Wilson Combat AR9 and 124g Hornady XTP.

Win case, CCI primer and 5.2g of AutoComp gave me a respectable group of .990 for 10 rounds fired from a bench at 50 yards.

This rifle will do even better but that is with AA #7 and AA #5. This is the best I have managed with AutoComp so far.

My best so far has been with AA #7. The longer barrel of the carbine will make good use of the slower powders. While I have not worked with BLue Dot in 9mm yet, I absolutely plan to. There is data in the older Speer books. If you have a 16 inch barrel like I do, Blue Dot should be great.

WW231 for the 40, don't have a 10 but it and WSF should work fine. 231 works in 9 fine as does WST but don't know if it works in carbine. Isn't 110 the goto for 357 & 44mag?

Titegroup is what I use, just a little goes a long way and be careful.

I don't shoot TG in anything but especially shun it with lead bullets, too hot burning IMO.

I've never found that to be the case but everyone has different results.

What problems did it cause for you?

What problems did it cause for you?My glocks all got pig nosed from rapid firing I believe reloads. 165 gr fmj 4.7 gr tg. For 9s 115 fmj 4.0 tg. Both loads are accurate and clean. However my glocks have pig nose. Also I think my model 10 got really bad flash cut at the frame where the cone is.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170901/1bb741fe0c684bd313b0bfaa9f934400.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170901/1840a1084c21709a284623a505b45347.jpg

Titegroup the small amount used makes it thrifty but it can be very hard to spot a partial of double load. There have also been reports of it softening powder coat on bullets where it touches the base if bullet stored nose down for a longish period of time. Not severe but little grains of powder will stick to bullet base from what I recall of the pictures. I store nose up (boxes upside down) but sort of tend to favor dirty old unique or 2400 for some of those calibers if I am making a supply I intend to use later like winter loading for spring use or keep in ammo cans in the ole bullet pantry for eventual use :-)

Titegroup will work in most pistol cartridges. Sometimes is not the best performer but will work. Same thing can be said for Bullseye and 231.
I use Titegroup in cast loads quite often. It does seem to burn hotter than some other powders and in continuous fire, can heat up a gun barrel rather quickly.
I don't shoot long strings of pistol rounds, so it isn't a problem for me.
It is quite economical since it is often cheaper per pound than other powders and you need so little of it to get the job done.
As always, take care when reloading and be safe.

titegroups place is in big cases like the 45 colt, 41 and 44 mag and 44 special at low pressures/velocity's.
I like to use it when I'm not using a gas check on gas check designed boolits, or when looking at target type cast plain base loads, in those larger cases.

it also is outstanding in cat sneeze loads in rifles.

IMO, one reason TG smokes so much is it is actually burnbing the lube. The lube burns off prematurely & you get leading. I am sure it varies with the lube, but TG burns super hot. Fire a mag full quickly & feel how hot the slide is. Nothing I have ever reloading shoots that hot. Several other powders are just as cheap to shoot w/o the heat & super small charge volume.
