View Full Version : 38 S&W Sizing Die
What diameter sizing die should I use for a S&W Victory revolver?
.360, .361, .362, or .363?

You can always open up a smaller die...

Best to use pin gages to check cylinder throat diameter. My S&W Model 32-2 has .362 cylinder throats, as does also my Webley & Scott Mark IV, so that is a safe guess.

Similar to what Outpost said but I made a casting of my Victory cylinder throats using Creosafe. I use NOE Mk1 38/200 mold and size to .364.

..............If you have a machine shop close by you could ask them if they'd check the cylinder for you. I'd walk in with just the cylinder on the yoke and not the whole revolver :-) I have 2 Victory model Smiths and they both will pass a .361" pin gauge but refuse a .362".

Ditto, Outpost! My S&W New Departure and Perfected Double Action have .360 throats all reliably the same but I understand that victory models and Webleys are usually larger...pin gauge and size accordingly.
