Hi,
my paramount bolt action rifle will group about 1" @100m with the 168 RCBS bullet and 24 gr. N130 and a Magtech primer.Bullets are cast about 70/30% lead/linotype. This load seems not first round sensitive. All's well you would think but there's this one problem: the barrel heats up quickly and I have to stop every 5 rounds for a cooldown.Very annoying.
So I'm thinking about getting N120. Would that run any cooler? Are faster powders running cooler in general? I'm looking for precision rather than hypervelocity.

rgds,

My experience is that faster powders burn hotter. Increase the time between shots to try to maintain lower barrel temps.
