I have cast a couple of hundred boolits from my new Lee 90692 6 cav 358-158 RF mold and need to know which RCBS top punch I need to get so that I can Lube size them. If there isn't an RCBS punch to fit, what other alternatives do I have?

Get a 1/4" X1" bolt, I am unsure as to the metric equivelent but the threads will fit into a RCBS Lubesizer. Grind the flats down as evenly as possible so it will fit inside a .357 sized die without coming near the edges. Hold the bolt in a pair of vice grips to do the grinding. If your alloy is soft you may get 3 lines from the bolt on your boolits but it doesn't seem to effect accuracy. You may file a flat spot for the allen screw to fit on the bolt but it isn't necessary. i`ve found that a lyman #495 fits most of my 358 needs, flat with just a slight lip so i can center the nose.

The lyman #43 top punch is the one that you need for the Lee 358- 158gr rnf

I tried my RCBS top punch for the RCBS 158 RN and low and behold it fits just about perfectly. It barely touches the edge of the metplat. The TP No is 311 for those looking for another punch for the Lee 358 158 RF.

If you can't find a top punch that fits the way you want, contact Buckshot here on the board. He has generic top punch kits that you customize with epoxy, so you get a perfect fit.

Thanks for all of your input. I think I will persevere with the RCBS 311 T/P for the time being.

I discovered tonight that the #43 will not get the bullet deep enough into the lube die. The top punch will bottom out on top the lube die thus forcing lube up under the bullet but not into the lube groove. The #43 will work but I had to grind the top punch down to where there is only 1/8th of a inch lip. Now it puts the bullet deep enough where the lube groove is getting lube.
