I shoot this in a WRA 1886 rifle. Very accurate and enough for deer

It's hard to imagine any 45-70 load NOT being enough for deer. I have yet to recover a bullet out of a deer I've shot with this caliber. It's also the least fussy caliber I've ever loaded for. Just about everything shoots good and some stuff shoots great.

I think this load is a tad more powerful than the load used in the 1870's. Enough power to get the job done. Never did recover the big slug harvesting deer!

10.5 grains with a 378 grainer gives me 1105 fps so I am sure that that 15.5 load goes through any deer sideways or end to end!

It's very difficult to argue with 400+ grains of bullet and yes, it will go through a deer lengthways but my wife and I ate the evidence....

I shot some 458193 and M-P 460-415 just shy of 1000 fps on 11 gr of some old stock Unique at 1200 fps my calculator says the 458193@417gr will carry over 1000 ftlb at 100 yd .
