View Full Version : Ruger Vaquero 357 Mag - Any Cast boolit issues?

Thinking about a future purchase. How hard or easy is it to cast lead bullets for this single action revolver. Most likely it will be the newer version since they are easier to find in my state.

Plan on checking the cylinder throat diameters with gage pins, as they may vary.

My .357 New Model Vaquero has .360" throats which handle cast well if you use .359 bullets. Some Rugers have tight throats .357 or smaller which must be reamed. Bigger is better, you can always size bullets larger to fit.

Don't forget to slug the bbl and check the thread choke .

Dad's old 3 screw BlackHawk is a dream to shoot .

Did 3 screws have thread choke issues or is that a recent problem?

Dont know . His was made about 1960 .
