View Full Version : Anyone have a Redding T-7? My ram is now super stiff and sticky

So I'm hoping it's just crud or **** concealed in/on the ram but my T-7 has now become super stiff and sticky to work. It doesn't matter if I'm running it empty or with a case.

I've lubed it but it doesn't seem to help. And no, I haven't tried to swage bullets in it or some other craziness so nothing should be bent.

It's now time to take it apart and let the scrubbing begin!

Anyone had a similar problem? I haven't looked at how to take this apart yet. I assume it's nothing special that an ape like me can break.

You don't need to take it apart...just clean the ram with a solvent and re-lube it with a synthetic lube.

I think if you read all of the posts that it will show you depriving is causing the issues. I would look for away to collect old primers into a tube then into a container. I read a post using SLIP 2000 and I would use only a high quality high tempature grease on the turret only.making sure to not over use. I might even contact the company first since the reloader is to strict standards.

Sent from my LG-H830 using TapatalkI would use 725 Gun Cleaner or Carbon Killer to clean it depending on how dirty. I would then use the slip 2000 on a regular basis as directed.
Check out the website above for questions or answers about the products. I would take it apart the first time making sure to not loose parts. I will be using carbon cleaner on my reloader and dry it off. I would then apply Slip 2000 as needed per instruction from then on.

Wow! I thought you guys were going to have me going back to my shrink over this. I mean Redding is the best there is (Ok, my opinion) and I just thought it really goofy that this was happening. I have to admit that I was oonly lubricating and NOT cleaning...guess I need to change things up a bit.

I discovered this press will hold up longer do to it weight and design. I just need to reloader it in the proper color of Red to make it look original for this first model. I had an high offer of $??? once the color is corrected and get a couple parts made for the unit by a metal lathe operator.

I like it the color you painted it...the red/orange makes it look like a Lyman knock-off.

I admit it. I'm a press junkie. That is a good looking press...and he's right. I had to look a couple of times before I realized that it was the same press and not a Lyman knock-off.

IMHO the Hollywood super turret is the best, but I don't know that I will ever own one. I just don't have that kind of disposable income now.

If someone came along and gave you a Blue machine for that...you'd look back for the rest of your life with a little regret!

Nawp...keep it machine grey and in your shop!

How do you plan on purchasing said items? You gonna give them some bills dated 2015? There in lies the rub about going back in time to buy items [emoji23]

We should really screw up the time line while we are there...we'll trade them iPhones and such...goodies from the future for old stuff from the past!

Go back far enough and those items make you a witch. Be prepared to be burned at the stake [emoji481]

Ok, I took off one e-clicp holding the ram and removed it...I really had to pull. I then cleaned it and the bearing surfaces off with Hornady One-Shot (It's what I had on hand). Went to put the ram back in and it litteraly just fell in. Slid home with perfect smoothness.

I don't think I should have used grease on this thing...it looks like thin oil is what it wants.

Talk about a thread hijack!! Back to the T7 situation.

AbitNutz figured it out and got the ram cleaned up. Abit, you are correct in presuming a thin oil is best for lubing the ram. I flush my T7 with pain thinner from time to time and lube it every loading sesion with Ed's Red with a little STP added. I don't deprime on my T7 so it does not accumulate the crud so fast.

That is why I suggest the Slip 2000 to use to lube after all surface are clean of grease. Grease is a bad word for lube on Reloaders, exceptg

Grease is a bad word for lube on Reloaders, except on the turret apply lightly. I would order some Slip 2000 now, as it will gum up quicker scrapping.
