I was sorting out a batch of 38 Special cases and found an odd one. It is a Peters case with a large primer. Seems I have heard of that but can't remember the when the change was made to small primers. Anyone have any idea ?

Thanks
Dave

I have about 20 of them, some are new factory primed, the rest are new unprimed.

That was fast, Thanks. I'll throw it in my collection box. Speaking of collections I picked up a few rounds at the flea market today. Bought a 401 Win SL, 38 Long Rimfire and a 22 WCF. It started in '67, a neat old guy gave me a couple shells in 22 Hornet and a 25 Rem. I don't have anything really special just about a gallon of odds and ends. I guess most of us have a box of shells that we look through ocasionally .

I've also got large primer .38 cases in my collection. They were still common when I started reloading in 1963.

Hope this helps.

Well, in all my years I've never encountered this. But, lately I keep running into these stupid cases with crimped primers. What, are they making machine guns in .38 sp now? I had two primers pop in my progressive press because of this so now I deprime and prime off the press and no longer load .38/.357 on the progressive but do it on my turret press instead. My wife gets concerned about the safety of what I'm doing when things explode while I'm loading.

I've had lots of Lake City crimped primers in .38 Special over the years.

Wives don't have much of a sense of humor when it comes to reloading............
