When you collect Ruger No. 1s and have a beautiful red pad era Tropical in 458 winmag that if horrible to shoot with factory ammo and you also have one in 45-70 that is nice to shoot ....... what to do ?

How about a 3 groove, 28" stainless barrel in the new barn burning 6.5x300 Weatherby?

The fore chnl (AH style) is already big enough, the extractor correct and the previous owner put a $100 pad on it.

Something about a 400 yard point blank rifle .....

Probably fry the barrel in 500 rounds, who cares, barrels are cheap and 500 is a lot of dead critters.

Been on the net looking for folks to do it with quick turnaround. Found 2 so far waiting for quotes.

That 5.5x20X50 Zeiss I have in the "scope chest" needs a home !

More to follow !

We'll start conjuring up boolit loads. That's one of the old 1000 yard favorite wildcats - domesticated.

I have a Mark V .257 Weatherby Magnum.

You might consider that cartridge, as it may be somewhat easier on barrel throats.

Recoil is mild, about like a 270 Winchester, and it shots flat. I zero dead on @ 300 yd with a handload using the Nosler 110 gr Accubond, and at 400 yds, just hold the crosshair even/level on a deers back. Drop is about 8 inches with the 300 yd zero.
