Just got back into loading for an AR in .223. Boolit is the NOE clone of the RCBS 55 grain fp (62 grains as cast. ) Getting pretty good results with 18.5 of 4895 but would like to find a ball powder that would give accuracy and function. I would like to load on a Dillon 550 and 4895 is a no go with the Dillon powder measure. If it comes down to it I will continue to use 4895 to keep the accuracy. Suggestions would be appreciated.

Try some AA2230 if you can find some. Meters great.

I get excellent results with Win. 748.

+1 on the AA2230. Had a couple 8 lb jugs on the shelf when I started to cast 62 grn pills for my AR's. Little smokey but meters very well in either a harrells PM or my 650. IMR 8208 also works, but not burning thru that for blasting ammo

Ive had great luck with 748 & Ramshot TAC with jacketed, I think Ramshot X-terminator would be worth considering also.

Reloader 7 works well with cast. Meters very well.

I just got back into loading 223 also and Im loading with BLC-2. (Back in the 80's i loaded thousands of rounds with 748 and H335 )
I keep hearing good things about 2230 and it looks like i need to give that powder a try.

I find many uses for AA 2230. It seems at it's best with 52-55 gr. pills in the 223. I like Win. 748 with the 68's.

I really don't think you could go wrong with any of the powders listed so far. I've tried them all, and I've had good luck. Best groups for me have been with TAC followed by BLC-2.

I've also used AA2520, but it's definitely temperature sensitive, especially here in AZ. Big swing from winter to summer.

Cfe223 works very well.

Haven't used any in years but AA2520 was very good and metered like water.

I have a jug of 2230. Any source for boolit data with it?

Straight from the horse's mouth. From 30g bullets up to 90g bullets. You'll have to scroll down a ways but it's there.

I was wondering if anyone had tried cfe223, seems made for this application.

CFE 223 is ideal for the application-- good case fill for good velocities, and (allegedly) it keeps fouling of the bore down (CFE stands for Cooper Fouling Eliminator). I use it a lot and have noticed that when I switch between jacketed and lead I see no fouling form either.

Accurate data seensure limited to jacketed projectiles

I suggest a good look also at Varget. Stick powder, short, meters well.
AND it does not foul your gas system like ball powders with their (heavier) deterrent coating.
