View Full Version : how deep to inlet a lock or how proud does the lock stand

so I've got my Lock inletted and have sanded the side flush with the lock,
my lock has a bevil around it
do i stand down to the bevel? and have the lock-plate stand proud?
I watched some of the duelists vids and he doesnt say

First, the lock needs to be deep enough to have the pan fit flush with the flash hole.
Next, wood around the lock needs to be a little below flush with the lock.

thank you,
the lock is up against the flash hole,
I've sanded flush to the lock,
thank you ill take it down a bit more around the lock when i do my finish sanding, was wondering how much, ill go to the bottom of the bevel

You'll want the lock a little higher then the wood because when tightening the screw for the lock in time will compress the wood.

On a beveled lock plate, go to the level of the bevel. On a flat plate, I want them flush.
