I picked a beautiful older Uberti/Navy Army marked 1875 Remington in 45LC. It dates to 1975. I am fairly new to revolver shooting but am quickly becoming an addict. The throats slug to .457 and the barrel's groove diameter is .452 What should I do here? I am going to guess that a soft bullet sized to .457 is going to be the best bet. But that's still quite a squeeze. My Lee Mould is dropping the 250g RNFP's at .453. Thinking i'll beagle this one.

Will a .457 even seat and chamber? I guess Uberti was going off the old gun specs here and maybe a hollow base .454 would be a better candidate for this revolver.

From what I have read, shooting boolits that big over groove diameter gives lousy accuracy due to too much compression.
I would try those .453 with a good lube and look for leading.
I'm betting you will be fine and happy with the accuracy.
Look at Larry Gibson's posts and observations. He has a ton of experience with this.

While they may do okay, I went ahead and ordered the Lyman 454190 and a .454 sizer. I figure they'll drop around .455 with my alloy.
I think these will fill the throats better but not be so oversized to be squished to death going down the bore.

If anyone wants a Lee .452 RNFP mould barely used and a .452 Lee push through sizer let me know and i'll give them to you for a song.
