While I was out slaving at work today, the wife was at the range gathering brass. She wound up with half a 5 gallon bucket and a nail in her left rear tire.

She knows all the tire shops I hit up for lead and chose one of the best producers to have her tire repaired. I came home from work and there were 2 full 5 gallon buckets of WW in the back seat. She said it took two men to load each bucket.

I did a little sorting...filled my 12 quart dutch oven with COWW, half filled a small Folgers can with zinc and steel, and a handful of SOWW. I hope the rest of the weights are the same ratio.

I'm so proud of her.

She has a favorite steak joint. At your suggestion, we have a date for Saturday. Gotta hold off on the cold brew, I don't get behind the wheel with even one beer in me. I do enjoy a cold one now and then, but always at home.

A good wife is " a jewel of great value", as said in the Good Book.

One day Mrs Bookworm came home from grocery shopping. She said she had found something for me in the parking lot.
She opened her hand, to reveal a 1/4" washer, a 3/8 x 3" bolt, and a wheel weight.

What a gal !

Your new morning routine is to get ready for work and stick a nail in the wife's tire.

Surprised no one's asked, so I will (tongue in cheek) "She got a sister?"

Congratulations on a partner that supports your hobbies.

Bulldogger beat me to it!

But yeah, she sounds like a keeper. I always heard that a pretty lady was more successful scrounging weights at a tire store than a guy would be. Enjoy your date with that special Lady, and kudos for not driving after drinking.

Now that is funny, off to the hardware store I go for roofing nails......

Kidding.

Behind every great man is a much better woman!
Good on you for treating her for her efforts.

You're a lucky man but you know that already. Don't think they make em like that anymore.

I'd just be happy with a wifey that would pickup her OWN brass. Since i'm the Hubby, it's my job to cast, PC, Size, Reload, clean brass, load magazines, carry everything the the truck, set up targets and clean her handguns after shooting. Her job to have fun and make a lot of noise. Thank God she can cook.

Yup, a keeper for sure. I'm doing good just getting my wife to go shooting. But, that is a good idea about sending the wife in to get wheel weights.

She and I go shooting and gather brass every weekend. She has fallen in love with my S&W model 19. I cast and powder coat Lee 140 grain SWC and I have found a good target load for her using Win 231. We always have a good time at the range.

Update

I was able to smelt the lead this morning, I had 144lbs of COWW.
200835

58lbs of SOWW
200836

The wedges weigh in right at 3lbs each. I stamp them all with Harbor Freight stamps.
200834

Thats a nice haul! It appears that your lead to non lead ratio is holding up good.

My wife encourages me to load and cast, which I thought in itself was amazing. But wow now I'm jealous. I'll have to bring her home a bottle of wine and flowers and see if I can get her to up her game alittle.

I wound up with almost 3/4 of a 5 gallon bucket of steel weights, zinc weights, clips and dross. I'm not complaining, the WW's were free. We didn't get a chance to go out to dinner on Saturday, we went to the range and scrounged for brass. Scored a 5 gallon bucket full.

Made up for the missed dinner date by grilling a couple of steaks tonight.
