Years ago when my Dad was stationed at Camp Lejeune he was an instructor. Land mine warfare and demolitions expert. On time during maneuvers for a landing at Onslow Beach he had set up some water bursts and a photographer took a picture with a helicopter in front of the plume that the burst had sent a long way into the air. He got an autographed by the CG picture. The picture then went on to be on the front of the Jacksonville,. N.C. phone book, and a huge copy went to the N.Y World fair to be on display.
The last time I saw Dad's copy was several years back when he was still alive and fairly healthy.
Have any of you seen the above photo anywhere recently? I know the description is a bit sketchy, but I believe if you had seen it you'd remember it. I've looked at a lot if pictures from the '64 World's Fair to no avail. Maybe some of you were training at Lejeune at that time and perhaps remember it.

You might try contacting the Marine Corps Museum to see if they have or know of the picture.

Contact public affairs at Camp Lejeune. http://www.lejeune.marines.mil/Public-Affairs/

I'm betting they have some private on the SL that needs to spend a few days looking for it.

His had a water bursts with the Huey on the left headed towards the beach with the burst behind it. And believe it or not it was in color. I wish I knew what happened to his copy....... Now the time the LVT-E1 had a mine clearing rocket break it's cable and ended up somewhere in Jacksonville was a hoot! I got to witness that beach landing.

I tried going to the USMC info board that Texas Grunt suggested but even though they gave me a number and such I must have screwed something up, because all I get is "ACCESS DENIED". Thanks for any help, and if anyone stumbles on the photo, I'd appreciate a heads up.
