I received my 91/30 from J&G the other day. Looks to be in pretty good shape. For those of you 91/30 owners, what have you found your bores slugging at?

just recieved my 91/30 1934 tula octagon from centruy, friday, paid a little more for it but definately worth the money, it sluged out at .312 diam, and rifleing sharpe and bright, shot the unmentionables out of it this past sunday, she sure is a lotmore pleasant to shoot than the m-44's, waiting on the dies, and sizers to come in to do some playing and and tuning her,and can't wait for the 91/30 1943 sniper is waiting at my favorite yoy store on layaway.kjg

You can find groove dimensions all over the spectrum: I have one at .311, a handfull at .312, many pre-war at .313, and quite a few wartime produced at .315 which seems to be the norm for 40's era even with minty bores. I have measured some very tired examples at .318..... never tried to shoot one of them!

Ok, that makes me feel better. Mine seems to run .3135". I was thinking that was excessive, but apparently not. Still waiting on dies and brass to show up in the mail. Thanks for all the replies.

.314 is not unusual at all. .315 is not unheard of. .316 and up you are starting to get into (possible) lemon territory.

You will even find the Finn MN's with .308 barrels. They shot regular military ammo through them with no problems.

I have an 1891/59 @ .300 x .312, which is the tightest.
Then an M38 @ .300 x .314, and an M44 @ .302 x .314.

I guess the moral of that story is that they are all over the place. Yours sounds like a nice middle of the road size.

Ranch Dog may even have a "Fat 30" mould or two that would fit it very nicely for when you run out of the "cheap" surplus stuff.[smilie=1:
