& powder question

Am going to do some load testing for my Rossi M92 .44Mag, and will be flying a little more blind than normal this time so would like a little advice.

I've got some inexpensive 180gr .430" boolits incoming, that are supposedly 16-18 BH (sale thread w/ description here (http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?337981-WTS-44-cal-hard-cast-bullets&p=4087815#post4087815)).
I don't know what this M92 bbl slugs at yet - will probably do so at some point, but wanted to do a quick test of these boolits for plinking loads (hopefully subsonic) in this rifle before trying them elsewhere (i.e. my 0.4295" Ruger 77/44).

What I do know about & have experience with are low-to-medium velocity Red Dot loadings w/ softer 240 gr boolits.

I know there is a very good chance of leading if I start in this direction; what powder & charge weights might be a good place to begin with?

I do have a good powder selection to work with: Bullseye, Red Dot, Trail Boss, Unique, 800x, and Blue Dot.
I also have 2400 & H110, but really don't want to go that high if I can avoid it.

I confess to being biased toward Red Dot & Blue Dot, as I have had excellent results with these in the past.

Thanks in advance,

It should be no problem especially using red dot powder if subsonic is your desire. Pick a pistol load of RD with a 180 cast boolit that runs in the 800-900 fps range. Your rifle will add approx 200 fps to the pistol velocity so that should put you in the 1000-1100 fps range(1100 fps speed of sound). My guess would be somewhere around 5 grs. of RD. IMO bullet hardness at these pressures and velocities is totally irrelevant, plain lead will work just fine for what you want to do.

My Rossi 92 in 44 mag likes .432 boolits as do many others. Fit is king and all that...

Try 7g of Trail Boss.
