On 14 May 2017 at 1830 hours my FIL was buried at sea on board the USS IWO JIMA with honors the family received the flag a cd and the certificate from the CEO and Chaplain. RIP SEABEE.

depends a lot on the command, some will record the ceremony, some dont. on my first ship, being the lead IC man i video's quite a number of burials at sea.

For a sailor, burial at sea has a special significance that land lubbers wouldn't understand. There really IS some "magic" in the sea, but you have to go there for a while, and have a few adventures on it, to really get to know it. Rest in peace my brother. Rest in peace, and God bless.
