I just came by a few of Hornady 212 grain ELDX. I would like to test them as low velocity long range loads in my 30-30 Handirifle. I also would like to try some heavy subsonic cast boolits out of the Handi. These bullets and boolits would be made to long to work in a Model 94 Win. The Handi is rated to work at 65,000 psi with the 500 S&W mag which has larger case cross sectional area than the belted magnums. There is not much logic or reason for doing this but since when does that matter on this forum? However, I would certainly like to read your comments on my project. Thank you all in advance.

I don't think they will be accurate in the slow twist 30-30 but they might. Let us know how it goes.

The 1:10" twist of that rifle coupled with a long projectile and low muzzle velocity might not be a good combination.
But, you won't know till you try.
Here is a 220gr round nose that is 1.42" in length launched at 930fps from a 1:10" twist.
This was 2 shots.

Same bullet launched at 1195fps from a 1:8" twist.
This is 5 shots.

They do appear to be fishtailing.

I tried some 220 Sierra Match Kings single loaded into barrel years ago in my 12" twist 94 Win. Accuracy was poor enough at 50 ys that I was glad I only loaded ten rounds.
