Asking for prayer

There was a post a while back about why we don't, and whether it's pride, which is what I think, or embarresment at going before strangers to ask for such help. Whatever, I'm asking my brothers for prayers this day. I've got neuropathy, much like what diabetics get, only worse, caused by my chemo. The numbness makes it hard to walk. What's really getting to me is that I've had two back surgeries, neither of which worked, and the pain down my left leg and knee is excruciating today and the meds don't seem to be working. Doc wants me to get one of those nerve stimulators put in, supposed to block the pain, I dunno, that's another surgery. Maybe things have to get bad enough to get us to ask. GW, I have a little neuropathy, but mine's from my little kidney failure event, it seems. But at least I understand at least a little of what you're going through. I've had that kind of pain with the back as well, and know how debilitating and trying it can truly be. But take heart. And remember that verse from the Bible that Paul Harvey once chose as the winner of a little informal contest he ran, asking for the most pertinent and meaningful verse in the Bible when people were going through trials. A little widow woman submitted, "This too shall pass," and I doubt any of us have remembered this verse when we're in dire straits. But it's there, and it's true. So at least know that this isn't going to last, and let that give you at least some sort of comfort. Not knowing if or when things will end makes them seem multiple times worse. This teaches us the true value and utility of simple assurance.
