Was decapping about 1,300 pieces of once fired 7.62x51 last night when I came across this one.

I can't imagine it being intentional, but it sure is interesting.

Headstamp on the 7.62 is FC (I think), but I can't make out a date. Headstamp on the interloper is MIY 99 (or 66). It's very hard to see, but when I look down inside the case mouth, it appears that the inner case is there, and has expanded to the inside diameter of the 7.62 case.

Did I see something else like this on here recently?

What caliber is the small case. Might have been someones idea to shoot 32 s&w through a 308??? It had to be intentionally done to get the cases to go together as the primer pocket flash hole arnt big enough to allow this.

I can't tell what caliber it is, unfortunately. I looked up that headstamp and I get nothing. It appears to be a rimmed case?

What's most puzzling to me is, this is supposed to be military contract once fired brass. If that's the case, it certainly deepens the mystery to me.

Not nice brass ones though.

heyweb that looks like a formerly smaw missle launcher spotting round case. as a spotting round they were necked for 9mm based from the 308 with a 25calMAG blank as the propelant to give the 300+gr 9mm tracer the same trajectory as the missle

Someone, anyone in the whole armaments design infrastructure of one of the three nations that developed that Rube Goldberg tax money eating contraption should have joined Cast Boolits.

They could have learned that either the existing .358W or .338F, fired from any existing medium length action, by any existing primer, with a heavy bullet and a small charge of pistol powder would do exactly what they needed. One membership and one post could have outdone the governments of three of the most powerful nations in the world.

I've fired the law, dragon, and tow (dragon is a maw but bipod fired, not shoulder).
Never got to use the training round.

Hmm...that's what those are? I have a handful of those rounds loaded. I knew they were different so I didn't mess with them but I didn't know they were used for that? Thanks for the info!
