Has anybody that's using WSP primers made as of late having any problems with light strikes or trouble seating them? I'm getting ready to re stock. I am still using the older silver coated ones that were sold in the white box but am almost out.

I've had three light strike Winchester primers in my latest box of small primers, in a few hundred shots. That hasn't happened to me in over 20 years. I'm going back to CCI.

Right now is a great time to restock. Midsouth has a no hazmat offer until the 5th. Have to buy 5 boxes of Winchester primers. my only experience has been with their large primers an I have never had an issue.

I have been using the WSPM primers for over a year and have not had any miss fires or seating problems. I load these in .45 small primer brass and 9 mm.

I've used ~3000 Winchester small pistol primers so far with my S&W Model 64-- no failures so far.

My only LRPs for many years have been Winchester, and I have moved into SPPs from them as well as prices and availability of primers got tough and it seemed that Winchester were the easiest to get around here. I've never had a misfire I can recall unless it was from a poorly seated primer... which would have been my fault anyway.

No, I've had nothing but good experience out of WSP and Federal SP. I have a couple handguns that have light strikes and they do better with WSP. I use the CCIs for those handguns that have a good strike, not because I think they are better but just because I know they'll work in those guns. The shell seems a little harder on the CCIs.

I bought over 5000 WSPs over the last 3 or 4 years.

No complaints here.

I've been happy with Winchester primers. If I was going to complain about a primer it would be CCI and that's not really a valid complaint.

I was having multiple light strikes in a new S&W 929-9mm with moon clips using CCI primers. Shooting range suggested trying 100 WSP small primers. Loaded the 100 rounds and had no mis fires. It would seem the CCI primers have a harder cup than the WSP primers. I even went to a longer firing pin in the 929 with CCi primers with no improvement. Never had a problem with CCI in any other pistol or rifle.

+1 on use in Hornet. Have used thousands in 32 S&WL, 32 H&R, 380, 9MM, 38 SPL and 357 mag......never a "light strike" or seating problem.

The only primer problem I've ever encountered came from cheap foreign made primers. Even then it may have been partly my fault.
During the time of short primer supply, all I could get were Winchester, and they all fired every time.
If you get light primer strikes It is likely the firearm causing the problem. Used/older firing pins, springs, etc aren't held to as close a standard as primers which are always first time at bat, reguardless of age.

I'm in the minority of having had issues with Win SPPs. I loaded up 100 rounds of 9mm a couple years ago and had about a 10% misfire rate. 2nd or 3rd attempt at firing did not work, so I don't think it was a seating issue. Could be a fluke, but the rest of that brick is on my shelf while I consume the other SPPs I have.

I do know for a fact that at one time a bad batch of Win SPP's was produced. A local guy had an issue with them. Winchester replaced them, and they made up for it by giving him a bunch of 147gr Silvertips.

Also no issues yet with Winchester spp, during the great ammo and components shortages I scored about a half a life time supply of win spp and as of yet about 3000 in not a single issue
